The new episode of A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs is now up. This one’s on “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” by Lloyd Price, but it’s really about its producer, Dave Bartholomew, who turns 100 on Christmas Eve. Happy birthday and many more of them to him!

did you know that nobody can leave comments on 500songs.com unless they install the Podbean app on a phone? I can’t see a way to leave comments on a PC. You might want to include a link back to this blog …

my actual comment: you put the Mixcloud up well ahead of time, and (as I was playing through all the Mixclouds for “500 Songs” I was wondering why you’d put up “My Ding-A-Ling”. I assume you know it was no. 2 worst single in Jimmy Guterman and Owen O’Donnell’s “Worst Rock ‘n Roll Records of All Time”?

(when I saw that book at a record fair, my then-girlfriend tried to stop me from buying it, because she knew I’d start ranting the entire contents out at her … and she was a record nerd too.)

      sorry, No. 1 in Guterman/O’Donnell!

Yeah, the comment thing is a problem, but I just assume most people do their commenting on stuff via social media these days anyway :-/
And yeah, the “My Ding-A-Ling” thing is explained in the podcast — it’s certainly not a favourite, but it makes sense with the episode.
(And I put the Mixcloud up ahead of time because you can’t schedule them without going on the paid programme, and I’m currently in the US without my computer for Xmas so I had to get everything up before we left — and in enough time to get the links put in to the podcast shownotes)
