The first proper episode of my podcast A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs is now live at https://www.500songs.com/e/episode-1-flying-home/ . It will shortly be up on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/a-history-of-rock-in-five-hundred-songs/id1437402802.

This one looks at Benny Goodman’s “Flying Home”, and at Charlie Christian.
When you’ve listened to it, you can listen to a mix of all the music I talk about at Mixcloud.

    Loved this!

    Not long enough.

      Thanks!
Yeah, I’d hoped to make the podcasts a bit longer, but they just eat material — I’m having to write 4000 words an episode. If it helps, this one is the start of a bit of a “story arc” which will continue in episodes two, four, and five…

  2. plok says:

Ha, I’ll look forward to that!

The length is probably just right for a nice accessible radio show, actually…after all, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that I was going to be a listener, but what’s wanted is to get NEW people in!

Even though only 1 episode has been released, I already love this series. Music in general and rock music in particular have very special places in my heart. This series is a fabulous way of learning more about the history and the people involved. Keep up the good work!
