For most of the last year my musical projects have been on hold, because I’ve been concentrating on work/my studies, and I’ve had some health problems which have made it difficult for me to do more. My band, The National Pep, have been on hiatus because my main songwriting partner/lead vocalist Tilt Araiza left the band and things didn’t work out with a couple of other singers I tried working with, but I’m hoping to do some stuff next year under that name (especially since I’ve learned more instruments, giving me a broader palette to work with). I’m looking for a singer and possibly a lyricist to work with, as I can’t sing the kind of material I write (I have a nasal bass voice, possibly suitable for Leonard Cohen or Johnny Cash or Tom Waits type stuff which I write occasionally, but not for the lighter, melodic stuff I usually write).
If anyone’s interested in being the new singer for my band, please contact me at andrew @ thenationalpep.co.uk .
I’d also, either way, be interested in people’s opinion of our stuff. You can hear streams of all eight tracks we officially released at last.fm . In general, I wrote the music and played all the instruments apart from the drums, and Tilt wrote the lyrics, sang and drummed, but we both did bits of each other’s job at times and various other singers helped us out. Please let me know what you think of those songs, as I’m planning on staying with that style of music…
