He may well have been born in Germany of German parents, but surely it’s stretching it a bit to claim old Heinz Burt for the German pop team, what with him being here since he was a little ‘un and making his name with the very British Joe Meek. I’m pretty sure he was practically unknown in Germany; then again, there are more than a few famous German “Schlager” singers who are really Brits and could cheerfully walk down Tottenham Court Road on a Saturday afternoon without being recognised.
