Cheers. I suspect it has something to do with the photos of the now-famous ‘board’, which have been circulating, which has Renee appearing in ‘Tec but Kate completely absent. I’ll be taking it as personal canon, regardless.

I took that panel, including the Cyclops-jaw, to be a deliberate callback to New X-Men, actually…which fit in nicely with my whole Quitely-is-the-new-Neal-Adams bit, so here’s hoping that’s what was intended…

But then you have to think the Morrison/Quitely team intends everything, don’t you? I don’t know who the hell Mr. Pyg is, but that he’s come to Gotham to “perfect” it says to me that we are swinging smartly into theme right away, no waiting.

Also, you have to love the Batmobile “battening” onto Toad’s car, don’t you?

I’m easily as happy with this as I was with All-Star Superman #1, maybe even a bit more…hmm, although it’s mighty tough to beat Superman saving Leo’s team from being swallowed by the Sun…

But then that’s the point, isn’t it? Batman’s world isn’t like Superman’s.

The Bats themselves in the batcave, in the first Morrison issue, eat chicken (goujons, fried, extra virgin olive oil) but they’re not necessarily sympathetic per se, hmmm… they always had that Indonesian meal in the Invisibles, name escapes, but I think GM is not vegetarian, if I recall from an old interview (possibly the Barbelith one by brother yawn), but rather does not eat red meat.

‘His favourite colour is red, and he supports Partick Thistle FC.’ I know, I know.

Debi – I have no idea where the Batwoman is non-con thing comes from; this is the sort of thing only ultrafans ever specify, almost never the publishers themselves, and I am pretty much entirely certain FWIW that like every other issue of ‘tec, the forthcoming will be in-continuity.

It’s more that in the panel you posted, Dick looks relaxed, but he also appears tense around the jaw in the way I’m used to seeing Bruce. Maybe I need to get used to seeing Dick in the cowl, is all.

And I was pleased to see Kate in the preview pics. I’d like to see someone not Rucka write her (Morrison so far has only written her as possessed by Anti-Life), and I was worried when someone mentioned a rumour that her Dectective Comics stories would be outside main continuity, so having her in other titles is a good thing for me.
